Nature photography and field notes
Photographs made with natural daylight, paired with written reflections from long walks outdoors.
The practice
I like to stay with a place long enough to notice what changes in the light. Some days the photograph is the point; other days, the walk gives me something to write about. I try to describe what I saw without making it bigger than it was.
From the journal
Notes from extended time outdoors, on plants, light, and weather.
Seasonal plant life
Early spring brought new fronds through the leaf litter, each unfurling at its own pace along the creek bank.
Canopy light
By mid-afternoon the canopy filtered the sun into a shifting pattern across the trail, changing with every breath of wind.
Trail weather
The morning fog softened every edge, and the familiar trail became a quieter place to notice small things.
